The changing trends of modern culture in Pakistan is the reflection of women employment in diverse fields from sale girls to entrepreneurs.The country is facing severe unemployment issues among the youth while the compromising nature of females have compelled them to get education in any kind of circumstances and work in every field like men.Courageous attitude of women like Benazir Bhutto, first female Prime Minister, Fehmida Mirza, first women Speaker National Assembly and Hina Rabbani Khar, first female Minister for Foreign Affairs have paved way for ambitious women to come out and work for the betterment of their country.
After the internet and free media revolution in Pakistan, the social attitudes towards women become changed and the authorities of their families have started treating them as productive citizens of the society in terms of education and employment.
Those working as sale girls in branded stores are seen with the respectful eye which are not only the bread earners of their families but also trend setters for the coming generation. About 22 percent of Pakistani females over the age of 10 now work, up from 14 percent a decade ago, government statistics show.
Women now hold 78 of the 342 seats in the National Assembly, According to an article published in Bloomberg News, much of the progress has come because women stay in school longer. More than 42 percent of Pakistan’s 2.6 million high school students last year were girls, up from 30 percent 18 years ago. Women made up about 22 percent of the 68,000 students in Pakistani universities in 1993; today, 47 percent of Pakistan’s 1.1 million university students are women, according to the Higher Education Commission. Half of all MBA graduates hired by Habib Bank Ltd. (HBL), Pakistan’s largest lender, are now women.
With growing strength of women in every sector, the major issue of harassment also came up as a big hurdle in performing their professional duties while the issue was taken at higher level that government passed bills on it for ensuring conducive environment for them.
