The newly inaugurated Pak-China Friendship centre would prove an unique forum to promote arts and culture of both the countries besiding strengthening their cultural and bilateral ties.Talking to APP here Saturday, Federal Minister for Culture Pir Aftab Shah Jilani said the center will be used for cultural activities, conferences, exhibitions of movies and holding stage dramas and live shows, said .
“It symbolizes ever growing brotherly relations between the two countries and their people which will encourage cultural activities in the capital promoting Pakistani cultural values”, he said.Project Director Pak-China Friendship Centre Brig. Maqbool said that this centre would be a token of cordial friendship between the two countries on economic and diplomatic levels. It would also help boost public to public contacts of the people and provide both the nations opportunities to understand culture of each other.
Capital Development Authority (CDA) had allotted 12 acre land for construction of the centre which has been completed with 20 months at a cost of Rs three billion involving 300 Chinese and 200 Pakistani workers.
Chinese companies IPPR and Shanghai Group designed and constructed the centre respectively .
Chief Designing Engineer IPPR, Chiang informed that the centre houses an auditorium with a sitting capacity of 814 and it is the biggest and modern auditorium of performing arts in Pakistan. She said that the eight conference halls are also being constructed among which the largest one has 250 seats. Besides three dancing halls and 105 residential rooms are also being constructed.
Chiang said that more than 600 containers of materials including furniture and interior decoration item were provided by China for the centre. An equipped library has also been established at the Pak-China Friendship center in which booking and literature regarding history, culture, geography and other subjects would be available.
